Max
In the October 1984 newspaper an ad read:
TO LOVELY HIGH CLASS HOME,
Lhasa Apso male, 2 years old, needs children 839-3703
I had been wanting a dog and this sounded perfect. After begging my husband, he said okay, but there would be restrictions. (see resource page)
After making an appointment to see this little boy, I, my husband and his parents drove to meet him. Upon arrival Max came to me immediately and said: "Take me home." It was love at first sight so home we went with him in my lap.
Max was so matted, full of sores and fleas. The next morning I called around for a groomer since I had no idea where to begin. I met Aloha and Geri who are still best of friends and still groom many of my dogs to this day.
Here is Max's pic after his haircut, what a perfect love.
The owner had told us that Max was show quality. I thought nothing more about it until he moved to Japan with us in 1985 for two years. The new groomer in Japan offered to show him once his coat would grow out. He placed Excellent Group several times and was pointed, but I did not want to move back to the USA without him so his show career ended.
While in Japan everyone adored Max. He had the sweetest temperment. Here are pics when he was in Japan.
He went everywhere with us, even into the stores. One day in a Japanese K Mart Max spotted rabbit fur collars while I was looking at socks. He helped himself to a collar that I had to buy for $75. Here he was innocently licking and loving the collar. How could I not buy it for him.
At 8 years of age Max developed calcified kidney stones. After his surgery he just never seemed to recover. He crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on 11-13-90. He is sadly missed. He was our first born and will always be ULTRA SPECIAL
Forever in our hearts.
Luv you Max,
Mommy and Daddy
